Description
The war memorial in East Molesey honors the men from East and West Molesey who served in the Great War. It features a 4-meter tall, square, tapering limestone column located on Hurst Road beside the River Thames. Each face of the column has a raised arch that contains incised inscriptions. The south-east face displays the main inscription: "IN MEMORY OF THE MEN OF EAST & WEST MOLESEY WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1919," while the other three faces list the names of those who lost their lives.
Below the main inscription, there is a small rectangular bronze plaque added after the Second World War, which reads: "ALSO THOSE WHO DIED 1939-45." The column is set on a two-stepped base in a paved area, with three steps leading up to the memorial on the south-east side, enclosed by a low wall.
