Description
Westgate Cottage is a two-storey house built of red brick in Flemish bond, although the west wall is rendered and painted. It features a natural slate roof and is constructed as two joined blocks with a four-sided north end. On the south side, which faces the road, there are two windows on each floor, all of which are 6 over 6 pane sashes. At the northern end, there are two additional windows, including an 8 over 8 pane sash above a 4 over 8 pane sash. The building stands on a raised rubble plinth, with steps and railings leading up to one entrance, which has a plain door topped with a small lead hood supported by brackets. The roof consists of two hipped sections, each with a small gablet dormer, decorated ridge tiles, and a tall rendered chimney stack. There is no rear elevation to this house. The interior was not inspected during the resurvey.
