Description
The War Memorial is a tapering marble monolith with a rectangular section. It features a polished front face, while the sides and rear are rough. At the top, there is a corbelled cap stone. The memorial stands on a three-tier base, in front of which is an additional memorial designed as an open book.
The front face of the pillar has an inscription that reads, "Erected in the proud memory of the men of Bedwas & Trethomas who gave their lives in the Great War 1914." Each corner of this inscription has a small square recess, each containing a circle and an entwined cross in relief. Two incised vertical lines run along the inner sides of the recesses. Below the inscription is a list of the men who fell. The open book commemorates those who died in World War II, with names from Bedwas listed on the left page and those from Trethomas on the right.
