Description

The Barling Magna War Memorial is a tapering pillar made of roughly hewn granite, featuring an incised cross at the top of the front face. It stands on a square granite plinth, which has an inscription on the front reading: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD / AND IN HONOURED MEMORY OF / THE MEN OF THIS PARISH / WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918. / (names) / 'GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS.'" The left face of the memorial also bears an inscription: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD / AND IN HONOURED MEMORY OF / THE MEN OF THIS PARISH / WHO FELL IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR / 1939 - 1945 / (names) / 'THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE'." The entire structure is supported by a two-step base.
