Description

The Aberfan War Memorial features a bronze soldier standing on a Portland stone pedestal. The soldier holds his helmet aloft in one hand and loosely carries a rifle in the other. The pedestal includes a plinth and a tapered shaft with an incised inscription and a bronze wreath on the front. There is an affixed bronze plaque on the rear listing names. Additionally, there is a plaque on the right side with names from the 1939-45 period and another plaque on the left side with a name from 1999 related to Bosnia.
