Description
The War Memorial features a white marble statue of a soldier at ease, holding a rifle by his right side and with his left leg slightly raised on a cannon. The statue stands on a tall pedestal made of bi-colour granite. The grey plinth has a two-step design with a moulded top and is affixed with pink granite memorial plaques commemorating the 1939-45 period. The shaft of the memorial is made of battered pink granite, with an inscription on the front and names listed on the sides. At the top, there is a large grey granite corniced cap that is chamfered back to the square plinth supporting the statue.
