Description
The Bargoed & Gilfach war memorial comprises a sculpted figure standing on a tall pedestal, constructed from polished granite. The memorial sits on a lower, weathered plinth of rock-faced granite, set into a paved area. A second, stepped plinth indicates a relocation to its current site. The pedestal incorporates fielded panels, with the front (east-facing) panel displaying an inscription in raised black lettering and a relief wreath below. Above a moulded cornice is a full-length sculpture of an infantryman. The memorial is of group value, reflecting its contribution to the area's historic character and wartime commemoration.
