Description
The Aberbargoed war memorial gates are an asymmetrical structure featuring double gates alongside a single gate on the right side, all framed by three square limestone ashlar piers. Each pier is adorned with wreaths in relief beneath stepped caps and topped with electric lights. The front face of each pier displays a cast iron plaque featuring a roll of honour in raised letters, with additional brass plaques above that commemorate those who died in the 1939-45 war. The cast iron gates are decorated with fretwork, with the double gates featuring panelled wreaths inscribed with "In Glorious Memory of those who fell in the Great War 1914-18." The single gate includes an elliptical plaque commemorating Glyndwr Michael (1909-43). On the left side, there is a dwarf ashlar wall with coping and railings that connects to a garden wall belonging to Bedwellty Nursing Home.
