Description
Pont y Gwaith is a road bridge built from rubble stone, featuring a humped-back design with a single arch that is exceptionally steep. The arch has a wide span of 16.8 meters, a rise of 4.8 meters, and a width of 4.2 meters. It is constructed with thin, long cut stone voussoirs and has a rubble stone soffit. The spandrels are made of small stones, and the coursing sweeps up over the thin crown of the arch. The abutment piers are broader and square, with squared stone quoins and base courses. The parapets have been rebuilt using rock-faced stone and feature rock-faced stone rounded copings, which are splayed out at the ends.
