Description

10 Alfred's Terrace is part of a two-storey row of cottages located in Taffs Well, constructed from rubble stone and topped with a slate roof. The terrace consists of five pairs of cottages (numbers 2 to 11) and an additional cottage (number 1) at the western end. Each pair shares a brick chimney stack with a cornice band. The cottages feature doorways topped with round arched brick heads, typically containing panelled doors with a two-pane fan-light above. Each cottage has one window on either side of the doorway, with the windows on both storeys aligned. The lower storey windows have segmental brick heads, while the upper storey windows have cambered brick heads. The cottages have deep 8-over-8-pane sash windows, mostly without horns, and with stone sills.

At the rear, the cottages have kitchen extensions enclosed by yard boundary walls. Originally, they likely included a door and window on the lower storey. Each cottage has two upper storey sash windows similar to those at the front, but with segmental brick heads. Some have skylights on the rear roof pitch. Originally, each cottage contained a front and rear room, with the staircase positioned in the front room opposite the fireplace. Most have been modernised, combining the front and rear rooms and adding a kitchen to the back.

Number 10 features a planked door with a small light. The lower storey brick heads have been rendered, and there are late 20th-century windows at the rear.
