9 Alfred's Terrace

Nos 1-11 Alfred's Terrace in Taffs Well is a two-storey row of cottages made from rubble stone and topped with a slate roof. The row consists of five pairs of cottages (nos 2 to 11) and an additional cottage (no 1) located at the west end. Each pair shares a brick chimney stack with a cornice band. The cottages feature doorways topped with round arched brick heads, primarily containing panelled doors with two-pane fan-lights. Each cottage has one window on either side of the door, with the windows on both storeys aligned. The lower storey windows have segmental brick heads, while the upper storey windows have cambered brick heads. The cottages are fitted with deep 8-over-8-pane sash windows, mostly without horns, and have stone sills.

At the rear, the cottages have kitchen extensions enclosed by yard boundary walls. Originally, they likely included a door and window on the lower storey. Each cottage has two upper storey sash windows similar to those at the front, but with segmental brick heads. Some have skylights on the rear roof pitch. Originally, each cottage consisted of a front and rear room, with the staircase located in the front room opposite the fireplace. Most have been modernised, combining the front and rear rooms into one and adding a kitchen at the back. The sash windows are horned.
