Description

This is a rubble sandstone bridge dating from the 19th century, located west of the Newbridge Chainworks basin over the Glamorganshire Canal. It features a single segmental arch and a plain parapet with hammer-dressed flat copings, which are splayed out at the ends to form simple square piers. The parapet has been removed on the north side, which faces the double lock. The deck is laid with concrete steps and descends steeply from east to west. Additionally, there is a late 20th-century garden wall built across the east side of the deck, abutting the parapet wall.
