Description

48 Pentrebach Road is a Grade II listed building consisting of two separate two-storey wings. The earlier wing faces north and is at right angles to the road, while a later wing is set back on the right side, featuring an entrance in its left gable end behind the earlier wing. Both wings are two storeys high with basements, constructed of rubble stone with tooled dressings and slate roofs, topped with end stone stacks.

The earlier wing, facing north, has a double front with openings beneath segmental stone heads. The upper storey and the lower left side contain hornless sash windows, and there is a replaced door and window in the centre and right. At the rear, there are two smaller hornless sash windows above an added rendered lean-to that has two hornless sashes. The entrance to the rear wing is offset to the left in the gable end and dates from the late 19th century, featuring an elliptical keyed arch with a half-lit door and a plain overlight. Above this entrance is a small-pane fixed window.

The gable end and the first bay of the south side wall are rendered and painted cream. The south side wall has three bays with horned sashes beneath stone lintels, and there is a stone segmental cellar door on the left side with a boarded door. The rear gable end, which backs onto the Glamorganshire Canal, has a boarded-up lintelled opening on the right side of the cellar. The north side wall has two bays with horned sashes under lintels. The building has not been inspected.
