Description
This is an ornately moulded cast-iron milepost located outside No. 240, designed in the Gothic style. The base features rectangular panels, with the lower panel displaying the date '1835' and the upper panel inscribed with the words 'LANDAFF PARISH'. Above this, there is a tall crowning tablet with a curved head, which is inscribed with 'CARDIFF DISTRICT'. The lower part of this tablet has two pointed-headed panels; the left panel indicates 'TO CARDIFF 1', while the right panel shows 'TO COWBRIDGE 11'. Below these panels, a segmental panel is inscribed with 'LONDON 159', situated above the rectangular panels at the base.
