Description
This is an ornately moulded cast-iron milepost in Gothic style, located outside No 322. It is part of a series on the A48 to the west of Cardiff. The milepost features a rectangular panel at the base inscribed with 'LANDAFF PARISH', although the date panel is hidden. Above this, there is a tall crowning tablet with a curved head, inscribed 'CARDIFF DISTRICT'. Two pointed-headed panels protrude from the lower part of this tablet; the left panel is inscribed 'TO CARDIFF 3', and the right panel is inscribed 'TO COWBRIDGE 9'. Additionally, there is an inscription 'LONDON 161' located below these panels and above the rectangular panel at the base.
