Description
This is an ornately moulded cast-iron milepost in Gothic style, part of a series located on the A48 to the west of Cardiff. The milepost features rectangular panels at its base; the lower panel, which is now hidden, was visible in 1972 and bears the date '1835'. The upper panel is inscribed with 'CARDIFF DISTRICT'. Two pointed-headed panels extend from the lower part of this tablet, with the left panel inscribed 'TO CARDIFF 2' and the right panel inscribed 'TO COWBRIDGE 10'. Additionally, there is an inscription 'LONDON 160' located below these panels and above the rectangular panel at the base, which is inscribed 'Landaff Parish'.
