Description
194 Cowbridge Road East is a building constructed from dark grey rockfaced pennant sandstone rubble, featuring painted stone dressings and Welsh slate roofs. It is designed in a mixed Gothic style and includes accommodation above a shop. The building has two storeys and an attic. The ground floor shopfront is marked by an elliptical arch, and above it is a corbelled 4-light oriel window, with each light containing 1 over 2 panes, separated by mullions and transoms. This oriel is flanked by single light windows, also with 1 over 2 panes. Above the oriel, there is a 2-light gabled dormer that includes a strip vent in the gable. The steeply pitched roof is topped with a tall brick stack. The rear elevation has not been seen. The interior has not been observed during the resurvey.
