Description

Dixton Lodge is a building constructed from coursed red sandstone rubble, featuring some ashlar dressings, and topped with Welsh slate roofs and ashlar stacks. It is designed in the Tudor Gothic style with an informal layout and consists of two storeys. The entrance front, facing west, has three bays, with a gabled bay on the left and the entrance located in the centre. The windows are designed with Tudor arched lights, and there is a 4-centred doorway. The gable includes fretted bargeboards and a tall triple-flued stack with diamond-set shafts on the right.

The garden elevation, facing north, has two bays and a projecting gabled wing on the right. On the left side, there is a tall tripartite French casement window with small paned windows, and above it is a 2-light mullion-and-transom window. The gabled wing features a canted stone bay that covers the entire ground floor, which includes French doors and side windows with marginal glazing, all beneath a slated roof. The first floor of this wing also has a 2-light window similar to the one above. Additionally, there is a slit vent in the gable and fretted bargeboards. The roof is hipped to the left, and there are three more stacks with 2 and 3 flues located behind. The rear elevation has not been seen, and the interior details were not available during the resurvey.
