Description
The Old Pike House is a two-storey toll house built in the Gothic style, constructed from roughly coursed and painted stone rubble with Welsh slate roofs. The main two-storey section runs parallel to the road, featuring a single-storey centre that projects towards the road. On the ground floor of the main range, there is a 3 x 3 pane fixed window with an intersecting tracery head and a dripmould, while above it, a 3 x 1 window with a pointed head can be found. The projecting centre has a half hexagonal end, with three faces that each have a window similar to the ground floor, positioned beside a blocked doorway, all adorned with hood moulds. A chimney is located on the wall behind the projecting wing. The main range has a half hipped roof with scalloped barge boards. The left return features a modern 3-light casement window on the ground floor, along with a single-storey late 20th-century extension that includes a second 3-light casement to the left. The interior is very plain, consisting of small rooms.
