Description
The Entrance Block to Wyndham Arcade is a commercial building from the third quarter of the 19th century. It features a four-storey, three-bay sandstone façade designed in a palazzo style, which has eroded over time. The façade includes a heavily moulded bracket cornice with foliage corbels, rusticated pilasters, and sill bands. The top floor has tripartite windows with chamfered and scalloped lintels, while the second floor showcases segmental arched heads to bipartite windows, which have recessed sash windows beneath shouldered heads. The first floor contains square-headed bipartite windows set in segmental arched recesses, adorned with tablet-flowers above and foliage aprons below. There is a modernised shop front to the left, featuring a four-panel recessed door in the corner, and a rectangular entry under a roll-moulded band leading to the right-hand passage that provides access to Wyndham Arcade.
