Description
Ristorante Il Padrino is an elaborate Italianate Gothic style building constructed in 1886. It is built from Pennant stone with dressings in bathstone and orange ironstone. The building has three storeys and features three gabled bays. The gables are crocketed and diapered, with arches that enclose lozenges; the central lozenge displays the date "1886".
On the second floor, the central bay contains a 2-light Gothic window, while the outer bays each have a single Gothic window, all adorned with polychrome heads and orange colonettes topped with floral capitals. There are stone balconies featuring pierced quatrefoils. The first floor has a central oriel window, with a band of Gothic windows above it; these also have ironstone colonettes. Each side of the oriel window features a similar window. The ends of the first floor are decorated with colonettes that are topped by griffins.
On the ground floor, the main entrance door on the left has paired granite columns set against a painted stone architrave, with mosaic roundels depicting the Four Seasons, although these are obscured by a later fascia board. There is a similar entrance to Toni's Bar on the right.
