Description
Nos. 1-4 Y Groes is a long terrace of four houses built with roughcast rendering and topped with a roof of small slates. The houses feature wide stacks positioned just forward of the ridge. The symmetrical design includes twin projecting cross gables for each pair of houses, separated by a central round arched gated passage with stone voussoirs. The original windows are small-pane casements with shallow sills, with three-light windows on the first floor of the gabled wings and canted bays on the ground floor. The roof has a low sweep with overhanging, slightly swept eaves on the central and side sections, and smaller first floor windows positioned close under the eaves, with entrance doorways located in the angles of the gabled wings. Nos. 1 and 4 feature small porches, while nos. 2 and 3 have hoods and boarded part-glazed doors. The side elevations display slate-hung gables with a two-window range. It is noted that no. 3 and no. 4 have part replaced windows.
