Description

The Nicholl-Carne Memorial Cross, located in the churchyard of the Church of St Donat, is a memorial constructed of limestone, likely from Portland stone. It is designed in a 15th-century style and features a square socket stone supported by two square steps. The lower step is larger and has a moulded rim with vermiculated faces. The socket stone is inscribed in memory of Mary Anne Nicholl-Carne, who died in 1879. The cross shaft transitions from a square base to a round top, adorned with a leaf capital, and is carved from a single piece of stone. At the top, it holds an open lantern that contains a plain cross.
