Description
The medieval cross and associated slab are located in the churchyard of the Church of St Donat. The cross is made of fine Sutton and Querella sandstone, with local lias limestone used for the steps. It features a tapering octagonal shaft set in a square socketstone, which has broach stops at the angles. The cross stands on a square base that has stops at the angles and a chamfer at the top, with two square steps below it; the lower step has a pronounced lip. The shaft is topped with an octagonal knop and a canopied head made of limestone, which displays a representation of the Crucifixion on one side and the Madonna and Child on the other. Nearby, there is a medieval stone slab with incised crosses.
