Description
The forecourt wall of Old Place is a tall structure made of roughly coursed random limestone blocks, standing about 3.7 to 4 meters high. The wall has a battered base and features neatly built corners. It is prominently visible along the east side of the street and along the north side, where the wall is more fragmented. In the center of the street front, there is a narrow arched doorway with an elliptical head, featuring a concrete lintel and a recessed entrance with an iron gate. This doorway has always served as a foot entrance and appears to be a 19th-century alteration. The south side of the wall remains mostly intact but is largely covered in ivy.
