Description
The wall between Old Court and number 53 in Cirencester is possibly from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone rubble with ashlar dressings. The wall stands approximately 4 meters high at the left end and gradually reduces to about 3 meters at the right. On the left side, there is a plank door framed by 17th-century moulded stone jambs, which may have been reused from a house that once occupied this site, set beneath a later flat lintel. The wall features a shallow ashlar plinth and flat stone coping along its entire length. The right-hand section has been breached to accommodate 20th-century timber gates for access to the rear.
