Description
West Farm is a two-storey house dating from the 18th century. It features a five-bay front elevation clad in pebbledash, with painted stone window surrounds and end quoins, as well as a first-floor band. The roof is gabled and covered with Welsh slate, originally having flanking stacks, but now only retains a stone stack, which is partly rendered, on the left-hand or south-west gable end. The house has sash windows with six over six panes, except for the second first-floor window from the left (south-west), which has a round arched head and intersecting tracery. Below this window, there is a round-headed doorway with a fanlight that has radiating bars, leading to a four-panel door with the top two panels being moulded. The entrance is enhanced by a gabled porch supported by wooden posts on low stone walls.
At the rear, there is a one-storey and attic service wing, likely built at the same time, which has modern windows and another stack. The garden elevation has not been seen.
Although the interior was not inspected during the resurvey, it is reported that the south-west end wall of the main wing is made of exposed stone rubble and features a segmentally arched fireplace, likely from the 18th century. The north-east ground floor retains some panelling on the north-west wall, to the left of the fireplace, and there are two six-fielded panel doors in the entrance hall. These interior features have been confirmed by the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales.
