Description
The Former Preswylfa Children's Home is a twin-unit, symmetrically stepped, two-storey building featuring a six-window bull-nosed rubble front, complemented by low buttresses, a plinth, and freestone dressings. It has tall tiled roofs that slope down towards the ends, with overhanging eaves, ridge cresting, and finials. The building also includes rubble chimney stacks and a central dividing parapet. The hipped and gabled cross roofs are advanced to the penultimate bays, and there are lean-to porches on the outer return walls. The windows are mainly paired sash types.
The end walls are half-hipped, and the rear displays similar architectural details along with two single-storey extensions. At the time of inspection in April 1986, the building was noted to be in poor condition.
