Description
The Former Preswylfa Children's Home is a twin-unit, symmetrically stepped, two-storey building featuring a six-window bull-nosed rubble front. It has low buttresses, a plinth, and freestone dressings. The tall tiled roofs slope down towards the ends and have overhanging eaves, ridge cresting, and finials, along with rubble chimney stacks and a central dividing parapet. The building includes hipped and gabled cross roofs that project over the penultimate bays, and there are lean-to porches on the outer return walls. Most of the windows are paired sash windows.
The end walls are half-hipped, and the rear displays similar architectural details, with two single-storey extensions. At the time of inspection in April 1986, the building was noted to be in poor condition.
