Description
The Former Preswylfa Children's Home is a twin-unit building from the 20th century, featuring a symmetrically stepped, two-storey design with a six-window bull-nosed rubble front. It has low buttresses, a plinth, and freestone dressings. The tall tiled roofs slope down towards the ends and include overhanging eaves, ridge cresting, and finials, along with rubble chimney stacks and a central dividing parapet. The building also has hipped and gabled cross roofs that project over the penultimate bays, with lean-to porches on the outer return walls. The windows are mainly paired sash windows.
The end walls are half-hipped, and the rear of the building has similar detailing, along with two single-storey extensions. At the time of inspection in April 1986, the building was in poor condition.
