Description

Glanogwr, which includes Glanogwr Cottage, is a building constructed from coursed dressed local stone. It features a two-bay extension that projects forward to the right. The structure has a tall hipped slate roof with bracketed eaves. The central part of the building is three bays wide, advanced, and topped with a pediment, along with a stone chimney stack. The windows include 12-pane sash windows with cambered voussior lintels, and taller sashes without glazing bars on the ground floor to the right. A central Tuscan porch has a bracketed cornice and an entablature frieze, with double panelled doors and an arched fanlight.

The extension has a pyramidal slate roof and similar architectural details, except the sash windows do not have glazing bars and are tripartite on the ground floor. The southeast elevation features small pane tripartite windows, and similar windows can be found at the rear, which has a splayed advanced centre. There are modern extensions at the rear that are not of special interest. The right side of the building, including Glanogwr Cottage, is rendered.

Inside, the building retains some late 18th-century details. The entrance hall is accessed through a segmental arch with a broken pedimented inner doorway. The hall features reeded doorway architraves and cornices in the stairwell, which includes niches. There is a winding cantilevered staircase with moulded strings and a scroll-ended handrail. A hexagonal room is located at the centre rear, and the Council Chamber and passage to the right of the entrance hall have heavily ribbed ceilings.
