Description

Bethania Baptist Chapel is a 19th-century building featuring a three-bay classical front. It is constructed from squared rubble laid to courses and has a gently pitched slate roof. The pediment includes a roundel shaped like a belt with a chape, which has the lettering "BETHANY" and the date "1862" inscribed on it, along with "BAPTIST CHAPEL" in the center. The chapel has a plain frieze and a simple architrave, supported by four Tuscan pilasters. The outer pilasters are set in from the corners and are accompanied by regular stressed quoins.

The building has a plinth and tall round-arched windows in the outer bays, featuring a moulded keystoned arch with an impost band and a plain architrave on a bracket below the sill band. The sash windows have marginal glazing bars with small panes. The broader center bay contains a similar detail Venetian window. A broad flat-topped porch is supported by paired Tuscan columns at the outer corners, leading to a broad doorway with stressed regular quoins and modern double doors.

The side elevations are rendered and feature three plain windows, with a plain eaves cornice and end pilasters. The tall round-arched windows on the sides have glazing similar to that of the front, along with a continuous sill band.

The chapel includes a railed forecourt with double gates at the center and a paved path leading to the porch.
