Description

This is a two-story Baptist chapel, built in a plain classical style. It likely dates to the 18th century. The exterior is constructed of coursed bull-nosed rubble with a slate roof and wide boarded eaves. The front has three windows and features an open pedimented gable with an inscribed tablet. The side elevations each have two windows. The windows are fitted with 16-pane sashes, with Gothick intersecting glazing bars to the semi-circular heads of the first-floor windows. A classical, flat-roofed open porch with a simple entablature supported by timber columns features double doors with three panels each.

The chapel was disused and in a deteriorating condition, particularly to the interior, when inspected in October 1985.

Rubble gate piers and iron railings are situated at the front of the property. A later vestry was attached to the northeast end and is not considered to be of particular architectural interest.

The interior retains a panel-fronted gallery supported by cast iron columns with decorative bell capitals. The ceiling is plastered with an ornate centrepiece. A large seat is positioned on a square platform beneath a tall, blind semi-circular recess in the rear wall. The pews are canted towards the platform.
