Description
Crickhowell Bridge is a Grade I listed single carriageway bridge, constructed from partly coursed rubble. The bridge has a curved shape, with 13 arches on the southeast downstream side and 12 arches on the northwest upstream side, gently ramping towards the center. It features low recessed segmental arches of varying widths, which are made with thin voussoirs and have a stringcourse on the upstream side. The bridge includes V-shaped cutwaters and plain cappings on the parapets, which have refuges. The vertical joints and a change to ashlar masonry indicate where the bridge has been widened. At the southwest end, low rubble abutment walls curve around the corner to the Llangattock road, while rubble walls extend from the northeast end. The bridge is also a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
