Description
The War Memorial is a structure commemorating those who served in the Great War and World War II. It features a white marble soldier in uniform, holding a reversed rifle, standing atop a tall pedestal made of grey granite. The pedestal has a moulded cornice, a tapered shaft, a moulded plinth, and a square base.
The front of the cornice bears the inscription '1914-18', while the pedestal shaft includes the text, 'This memorial is erected in memory of the men of this place who died in their country's service during the Great War and whose names are inscribed hereon,' followed by 34 names. Additionally, the front of the plinth displays the phrase, 'Greater love hath no man than this; that a man lay down his life for his friends.'
On the right side of the cornice, the inscription reads 'Yn ang of ni chant fod,' with another 32 names listed on the shaft below. The left side of the cornice is marked '1939-45,' along with 15 names inscribed on the shaft below.
