Description

10 Fairwood Road is a symmetrical, two-storey, three-window house dating from the early 20th century. It is built of rendered stone with slate roofs, and features yellow brick end stacks decorated with dog tooth dentils. The central doorcase contains a panelled door with an overlight, flanked by plain pilasters and a dentilled cornice supported on corbels. The windows have segmental heads, stone sills, rusticated surrounds, and horned sash windows without glazing bars. The upper-storey windows have alternating vermiculated jamb stones, with heads featuring cross motifs to the keystones and shoulders. The windows either side of the front door are similar, but the voussoirs are taller, with high vermiculated keystones and shoulders. A slate roundel is mounted on the wall to the right, commemorating the artist Ceri Richards (1903-71), who was born there.

A lean-to garage with planked double doors and a high brick-coped parapet adjoins the left side of the house. The gable ends are plain, without openings. A central wing extends to the rear, also with a yellow brick end stack and dog tooth dentils. The left side of the rear wing has a window to each storey, matching those to the front. A small, rear lean-to provides access, with a planked door and a late 20th-century window to the left. A late 20th-century lean-to porch is located to the left of the wing. Finally, a late 20th-century, two-storey extension with a flat roof and windows to the rear and south side adjoins the right side of the wing.

The interior was inaccessible at the time of inspection.
