Description
7 St James Crescent is a two and three-storey building featuring stucco with stucco quoins and a band course at the first-floor sill levels. The slate roof has bracketed eaves and rendered chimneys, with horned sash glazing throughout. The left block is two storeys tall and includes a small gabled dormer in the roof, while the right side has a three-storey projecting gabled wing. Banded pilaster strips accentuate the angles of the building.
The left block has a central bay flanked by pilasters that extend slightly to the impost level. It features double-leaf doors with an overlight and a balustrade above. The first floor has a round-headed window with a moulded surround and a string course at the impost level, topped by a dentil cornice. The outer bays on the first floor each contain paired camber-headed windows in moulded surrounds, with a band course at the sill level. The ground floor features a splayed bay window with scrolled brackets at the angles.
The gabled wing has a round-headed horned sash window on the second floor, a Venetian window on the first floor, and a splayed bay window with scrolled brackets at the angles on the ground floor. The left return of the building includes an open loggia at ground floor level supported by Doric pillars.
