Description
78 The Watton is part of a three-storey row of six houses, numbered 75 to 80 consecutively. Each house features a front with one window and a door, with the doorway for No. 80 located on the side elevation facing John Street. The fronts are pebbledashed, with some sections painted, and include bands at the second and first floor sill levels, as well as a plinth. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, and there are brick stacks at the ridge.
The windows are adorned with stuccoed architraves. On the second floor, there are two-light casements with margin lights, while the first floor features French casements with margin lights and contemporary iron balconies. The ground floor has 6-pane sash windows. The doorcases are plain wood, supported by wooden pilasters and topped with bracketed cornices. Overlights above the doors of Nos. 75, 76, 78, and 80 display rectilinear tracery, and the doors themselves are four-panelled.
