Description

The Barn and Former Bakehouse at Henbant Fawr is situated on a steeply sloping site, featuring a two-storey bakehouse at the uphill end and a barn that steps down at the downhill end. The structures are built of random rubble sandstone, with the bakehouse painted white and both having corrugated metal roofs.

The bakehouse faces the yard and includes a boarded door on the left and an infilled former cart shed door on the right, which has a small fixed light inserted. There is an added window in the upper left. The barn features a central wagon bay doorway with boarded doors, sheltered by a renewed canopy on original brackets, and is flanked by ventilation slits. To the right at the lower end, there is a boarded door with a casement window beside it, leading to a former stable located in a basement beneath the barn floor. The uphill gable end of the bakehouse has a doorway with a timber frame and a boarded door, with a tall stack rising from the angle. The rear of the former bakehouse has double boarded doors under a timber lintel, with a casement window above in an earlier opening. The rear of the barn has a central cart passage doorway with renewed doors and sawn-off brackets from a former canopy, along with a ventilation slit to the left. The barn's gable end features three stepped breathers and a basement window offset to the right, which is located under a dripstone and has a renewed casement.

Inside, the barn has a five-bay tie-beam roof. The bakehouse contains a fireplace with a timber lintel and a bread oven. The granary floor is supported by a single cross beam with closely spaced joists.
