Description

Gudder is a two-storey, six-bay house dating from the 18th century, featuring a shorter and lower parallel wing at the back. The building is constructed of roughcast rubble stone and has hipped slate roofs. The main house includes a renewed tall stone chimney stack on the left, which has a blind round-headed panel in the center, balanced by a replaced brick stack on the right. The windows are 12-pane hornless sashes, with only three windows on the upper storey, suggesting that there may have been additional windows that are now blocked. The doorway is offset to the right and features a panelled surround, a plain overlight, and a panelled door with strap hinges.

On the left side wall of the rear wing, there is a similar sash window in the upper left and a late 19th-century sash window below it in an earlier opening. The rear wall of the wing has a 12-pane sash window in the upper left, a casement window inserted below it in a former doorway, and a stair light in the center that was enlarged in the late 19th century, featuring a stone lintel and a horned sash window.

Although not inspected during the survey in December 1997, the main house is noted by Jones and Smith to retain a parlour and kitchen flanking a central entrance hall. The rear wing contains an oak staircase with turned balusters.
