Description
Dark Bridge, also known as Canal Bridge No 109, is a single-span bridge constructed of rubble sandstone. It features an asymmetrical segmental arch and continuous parapets. The narrow deck of the bridge slopes sharply upward from the north to the south. The arch is made up of thin voussoirs, and on the eastern side, which is downstream, there is a cast iron plaque displaying the bridge number in relief. The parapets are splayed, particularly at a sharp angle to the south. Additionally, a low wall runs parallel to the towpath and is positioned against the northeast side of the bridge.
