Description

Danygraig is a two-storey house with stuccoed painted elevations and raised quoins, topped by a hipped slate roof with very deep eaves. It features projecting rubble chimneys on either side with tabling. The striking three-bay facade includes an entrance flanked by two full-height bows, which have camber-headed 12-over-8 sash windows on the first floor and 12:12 light French doors on the ground floor. The central double doors have upper glazing and a two-pane overlight above, with a small balcony between the bows that has a painted timber trellis pattern front. The French doors leading to the balcony are small-paned with an eight-paned overlight that has a cambered head. To the left of the chimney, there is a small-paned French window. There is a slightly lower single-bay wing to the left with a shallow bow, featuring 12-over-8 cambered sashes. Additionally, there is a three-bay flat-roofed extension to the left.

On the right side, there is a single-storey wing with three bays, a slate roof, and a rubble gable chimney. It has a central steep gable with a plain bargeboard and 20th-century glazing, including a wide three-light casement on the left and a central round-arched window. The house has an earlier rear wing parallel to the north-west wing, possibly from the 17th century, which features 20th-century glazing above a glazed lean-to porch. At right angles to this wing is a single-storey service wing with a slate roof and three bays; it has 6-pane casements on the left with iron bars and a 20th-century window on the right.

Inside, the stone-flagged hallway features a straight-flight stick baluster stair. There are six-panel doors leading to plain rooms on the left and right, both of which have later fireplaces. The rear kitchen is located in the older wing, which has massively thick walls and retains beams that are almost completely plastered over. There is a large fireplace backing onto the front range and a segmentally-headed cupboard to the left. The first floor has unusual slightly curved six-panel doors.
