Description

This is a pair of memorials located west of the churchyard at Llanelly Church. Each memorial features large sandstone slabs supported by four cast-iron legs. The legs are ribbed and taper from fluted feet to caps. The slabs have a facetted design leading to a central ridge, with inscriptions on all four faces. The southern tomb commemorates William Williams, who died on 16th June 1878 at the age of 65, his wife Jane who passed away on 10th May 1896 at the age of 83, their daughter Mary Anne who died on 9th October 1838 at just 9 months old, and William Henry Gwynne who died on 15th May 1876. The northern memorial, which is covered in lichen, honors William Jenkins who died in 1843, his wife Ann who died in 1882, and includes a Welsh inscription for Daniel Jenkins of Blaenavon, who died in 1911 at the age of 63.
