Description
Cwm Gu Cottage, which includes an attached barn, is a two-storey building made of rubble sandstone with a tile roof and a stone stack featuring a diagonal shaft at the left end. The front of the cottage has a pentice supported by seven brackets that extend from the internal cross-beams, topped with a stone tile roof. The doorway at the left end has a stop-chamfer surround and a shaped door head, with the inscription '1633 + H:C' above it. There is a small casement window above the doorway, as well as casement windows in the center and to the right.
The attached barn on the right gable end is lower than the cottage, with evidence of an earlier byre or barn visible at a higher level in the gable end of the house. The barn is also constructed of rubble stone and has a slate roof. It features full-height double doors for the cart passage, centrally placed under a canopy, and a boarded door to the right with a stone lintel. The rear of the house has inserted casement windows, while the barn also has full-height double doors for the cart passage.
The building has a lobby-entry and a two-unit plan. Inside, the lower storey features cross beams with crude chamfers and stepped stops. The fireplace stairs, originally made of stone, are now said to have been replaced with wood.
