Description
The Bothy at Trowle House is a small cottage that has been converted into stores. It dates from the late 17th century and is constructed of random rubble stone with a hipped Welsh slate roof and a stone stack. The building is single-storey and features two windows. The central entrance has a planked door with strap hinges set within an ovolo-moulded wooden architrave. To the right of the door is a two-light recessed cyma-mullioned casement, while to the left is a blind mullioned casement. A rubble stone parapet conceals the roof pitch. The right side of the building has a partly blocked mullioned casement, and the left side has a two-light mullioned casement. At the rear, there are single-light cyma-moulded casements on either side of the stack. Inside, the cottage has chamfered beams and an open fireplace with a partly damaged Tudor-arched stone lintel, along with bread ovens and a later range. This structure may have served as a bakehouse for the main house.
