Description

This group of farm buildings, located southwest of Slwch Farmhouse, includes a barn flanked by wings at right angles that enclose a farmyard. The right-hand wing was formerly used as stables and cartsheds, while the left-hand wing is possibly a cowhouse. The walls are made of whitewashed stone rubble, and the barn has a slate gabled roof, although the other ranges have a modern corrugated covering.

The barn features two waggon entries on its northeast elevation and has ventilator slits along both long elevations and in the gable ends. To the right, there is a slightly lower wing that includes cart and animal sheds on the ground floor, with a hay loft above. The hay loft is accessed by an external stone stair at the northeast end of the wing, and there are square loft entries at eaves level in the south long walls.

On the ground floor, the animal and cart bays can be accessed from the farmyard side, with no entries on the north side. There are three cart bays with wide segmental-headed entries towards the east end of the range, while the entries to the stables are mostly narrower doorways with curved heads, although one animal bay has a wide square-headed opening. There is also one first-floor window at the barn end of the range. To the left of the barn is a lower lofted range that runs forward, featuring a window in the gable end at loft level and three large vehicle entries.
