Description
The W.R.H. Powell memorial is a significant structure located in a churchyard, featuring a near life-size sculpture of a lightly draped white marble female figure expressing grief. The figure leans against a tall vertical marble slab, which has a raised cross in shallow relief. The base beneath the figure is also made of marble, flat under the figure and sloping gently forward, with inset lead letters that read: "Walter Rice Howell Powell MP born April 4th 1819 and died June 25th 1889. To his Beloved Memory." This memorial is enclosed within a square area defined by spearhead iron railings, which are supported by urn-capped stanchions set on low stone coping.
