Description
The War Memorial in Llangathen Churchyard is a freestone memorial designed in the style of a Celtic cross, set on a stepped plinth. The upper step of the plinth features the phrase "gwell angau na chywilydd" in raised letters. The square base includes a roll call of the deceased from the 1914-18 war in raised black letters on the east and north sides, with a similar roll call for the 1939-45 war added on the west side. The cross itself is adorned with ropework edge moulding, a wreath, and a sword below interlace panels, all depicted in shallow relief on the east face of the shaft, and it culminates in a wheel-headed cross.
