Description
The Porthmadog war memorial features a cross on a small rise, designed to create a sense of procession from the street. The Celtic style cross stands on a stepped plinth, with a square base that has bronze inscription panels listing the names of those who died in the 1914-18 war in raised letters. The wheel-headed cross is mounted on a tapering shaft. The memorial is enclosed by dwarf walls made of coursed stone, with piers at the corners that hold bronze plaques commemorating those who died in the 1939-45 war.
Access to the memorial is via a winding path from the street. An arc of stone steps, complete with a stepped parapet, leads up to a rock-faced trilithon engraved with 'Bryn Coffa'. Beyond the trilithon, a path is lined with monoliths, each inscribed with the years of the 1914-18 and 1939-45 wars.
