Description

Twb Lemon, also known as the Lemon Tub, is a shop and house (or office) that stands two storeys tall with an attic. The building features a front made of whitened scribed roughcast, a renewed slate roof, and stone stacks at each end. The late 19th-century shop front is highlighted by panelled pilasters with stylised foliage capitals. Above the pilasters, encaustic figure tiles are located at the ends of the fascia, which has a later fascia added on top. The cornice displays a frieze decorated with 4-leaf and ballflower motifs. The shop windows have small panes and are set above a later marbled stallboard, framing a recessed entrance that includes a glazed door with a lower faceted panel.

On the upper storey, there are two canted oriel windows, each featuring 2-pane sashes and cornices that match the shop front. The attic contains round-headed 2-light casement windows situated under gables adorned with fretwork scrolls.

The right gable end is constructed from slate rubble laid in rough courses and features double-panelled doors with an overlight on the right side, which is the original entrance to the house. The upper storey includes a 12-pane sash window on the right and a 2-pane sash window on the left. In the attic, there is a 12-pane horned sash window located to the left of centre.

At the rear, there is a lower two-storey wing with six windows, made of slate-stone rubble laid in rough courses, facing Chandlers Place. The lower storey has 12-pane horned sash windows with raised cement surrounds. The left end features a panel door, followed by two windows, a replacement door, another window, a replacement door, and a window that was formerly a doorway at the right end. The upper storey has five small-pane horned sash windows and a similar paired window at the right end. The gable end includes a former upper-storey loading door that has been converted into a window, situated under a projecting gable that once held a pulley block. On the right side, there is an outshut with double doors beneath a stone lintel.

The rear of the main range has skylights and a 2-light window on the right side in the middle storey. The building has not been inspected.
